Breeze

In October last year I went out to check my hens, they were upset by something only to see a little kitten being chased out of their henhouse, I could not believe my eyes!

This was the weekend of the big storm with hail, torrential rain, thunder and high winds. The kitten hid in the poly tunnel anoint the tomato plants.

The kitten was naturally very scared and would not come to me, I put out food for it daily but could not get its trust.

I went to the vets for advice, they recommended a mink trap, they didn’t have one but luckily I found one in the farmer’s supply store in Grenaa.

I set the trap with kitty food which it managed to eat without spring the door but after the 3 try there was a tiny frightened little kitten.

I brought the kitten home and put him into a big animal carrier and gave him some food, I got a bite in my finger for my troubles!😺

Getting cleaner

He relished the food and from then on we were friends.

He, for he was a lovely little boy, was about 10 weeks old, bedraggled, flea and ticks were aplenty and very dirty.

He was very scared and would offer hide in corners if he was not sure of sudden noises or if I opened the door suddenly but his confidence grew daily and he became a kitten with a sense of fun.

After two weeks I took him to see the vets, who found he had an ear infection, fleas, worms but otherwise a healthy kitten, they did a thorough check up and gave him the first of two inoculations, gave me worming tablets and flea, tick drops to give him at home. Also antibiotics for the ear infection. He would go back a month later for number 2 inoculation and a micro chip inserted in case he ever gets lost.

By the end of November he was running around the house have endless fun and to my relief Slim my old cat did not mind having a young kitten around the place, Slim patiently plays with him without a claw coming out, they eat together and they now even sleep together most days.

I called him Breeze after the storm when we first met.

Christmas loomed and I wondered how he would get on with my son and his wife, he was so used to it being just us, but I need not have worried, they all got along really well and I think Breeze loved all the attention.

He loved the Christmas tree, I put on only unbreakable baubles , he had a fabulous time climbing it at first but didn’t clime it again after the baubles were on just played with the ones around the bottom edge, he loved the tinsel.

It’s now the new year and the house is quiet again, but Breeze keeps Slim and I on our toes, sewing is impossible while Breeze is awake, he loves to help.

He cuddles up with Slim or myself, is super affectionate, loves to watch the birds in the snow out the window but shows no signs of wanting to go out. ( he can’t go out until after he has been neutered or before the spring, this winter has been very cold and stormy)

I am so happy he came into my life he brings me joy, happiness and lots of laughter every single day.
