A walk in the willow woods.

After 6 hours in the studio a walk was a good idea.
Along the way there were lots of little bundles of wood anemone.
Although I don’t live very close to the sea I often find shells!
The willow wood.
It’s copied by the farmer every couple of years.
Gorgeous blue skies.
And bright green grass.
Shades of cream and green.
Vibrant colours.
Great shapes.
Hawthorn blossom.
All along the edge of the field.
Smells good too.
Off home now.
Past the boggy woods.
A beautiful day a wonderful walk.

April

A beautiful start to the month.
With vibrant skies.
Sadly my little poly tunnel took a bit of a beating this winter.
I managed to dig, weed, compost and replant the two borders in front of the studio.
I split up the day lilies and replaced them in both borders.
Henrik lent me his trailer to get lots of compost from the recycle center.
And even helped me get it!
Have a job in the sailing club once a week, I like to go early so I can relax a bit in the harbor.
There is always something interesting to look at.
I left the basket at with Alex and Nicole with fresh baked scones, butter and jam, look what was in it when i got it back! The lollies went straight into the freezer, not sure how long the chocolates will last!

Butik 39, a new beginning ❤️

We four girls have joined together to open a shop in Ebiltoft.

Julia, Augusta, myself and Amy. We each have different skills and strong points which put together make a fabulous team.

Augusta, full of charm and wit.
Julia and myself being silly as usual
Amy too!
Shop welcome!
Artist galore.
Little secret room filled with treasures.

Brightly coloured quilts.

Beautiful ceramics.
Augusta and her family.
Amy taking a well earned break.
Me too.
Julia putting our flag out for the first time.
I couldn’t end without a photo of Julia’s wonderful biba coat, it’s stunning!

Free find

I’ve been looking for a trunk to store some quilts in.
When I went to the recycling center to drop of some junk this was sitting in the free goodies shed!
It looks great inside, nice wood.

I’m so happy with their free find!

Quilted!

I quilted my wee scrappy quilt.
If I make one like this again I will use a stabiliser on the back of the vintage flower pieces, it was very difficult to keep them flat.
I might add some more feathers to some of the blocks to hold them flat.
Breeze is a lovely little helper❤️

Getting ready for spring, January.

Clearing the flower bed, it has become entangled in wild grass and weeds so have decided to clear it out save what plants I can and dig it over fill it full of compost. Then I will replant it.
There is a long way to go so I will do a little at a time when the weather is good.
I have started to prepare my raised beds for this years planting. I will go to the recycle centre to see if I can get some more wood to make some more raised beds.
I have started to fill the tubs.
I had to repair the wee poly tunnel as the wind did a bit of damage this year, I also want to clean it and block out the open windows.
The snowdrops started coming though mid January.

Fall flowers

I was out for a walk and came across a small field of flowers, so I picked a to bring home.
Farmers here often sow the edge or corner of their fields with flowers for the bees and wildlife and we are allowed to pick some for the home.
I though they looked lovely on the windowsill with some little pumpkins from the garden.

Hamburg, a working holiday ❤️

Last weekend I drove down to a village just outside Hamburg to teach at a mini retreat.
I stayed here on a working farm, the accommodation was fabulous, all white linen and hot showers in a sparkling clean room.
Here are the six lovely German ladies I was teaching.
A nice room to work in.
We worked on a triple Irish chain quilt.
No two the same.
This one is like a cottage garden.
Ate cake❤️
Walked in the gorgeous garden.
Admired the verbena.
Had tea here! Pretty perfect ❤️

To the lighthouse

For 120 years, the Rubjerg Knude lighthouse has been perched on a sand dune on the northern Danish coast, but costal erosion from the North Sea winds threatened to topple it into the sea.
Now the lighthouse has been saved, it was lifted it up and moved 70m (230ft) inland.
Alex and I went to the lighthouse last Sunday to watch the sunset over the huge dunes.
It was a most beautiful clam evening.
The sunset didn’t disappoint.
Jelly looking lovely in the evening sun
You can climb to the top of the lighthouse, but we were happy to sis in the sand.
The lighthouse.
