The wall behind the old bathroom crumbled away and some of the beams rotted, Michael has replaced and repaired it so beautifully replacing with new oak only where needed and keeping the original wood. Amazing work. Here is a little bit of the original oak that I will keep, it’s just so perfect.

It was freezing my toes and fingers were frozen!

Steel girders!

The house should still be standing in another 350 years!

The back of the outbuildings has looked a mess for a while but now it is cleared and levelled ready to be painted.

Another job for the winter.

I am putting in new windows and door and the most important thing, insulation!
Michael and his crew start tomorrow, kL7.00, so I think that I am all ready for them.

Even with the terrible drought I managed to keep o small part of the garden alive.

I have just finished the new house in Scotland, just need to do the garden, my son William will live in it while I am not there. He has furnished it beautifully with the help of his lovely girlfriend, Pammy. I am super happy with it, I have solar panels too!
I am hoping that my mum will go and sort out the garden for me.

I spent my whole childhood on the Isle of Gigha, I had a wonderful childhood there, I spent my days exploring, swimming, sailing and running free in wellies or bare feet. In the winter there was Halloween and Christmas parties held in the village hall, Carol singing around the houses. The school was small but we had a super teacher who would sometimes say, “it’s such a lovely day let’s all go out and explore the wildlife” and of we would go, she knew the names of every plant, tree and rocks. Every time I go back for a visit old friends alway make me feel so welcome, I am always sad when I have to go.
